Points and payouts
You earn points for real, confirmed bugs. Points turn into money you can cash out by UPI.
What a bug is worth #
Points depend on how hard the bug was to find.
| Kind | Points | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Hard | 300 | Took real digging: a rare set of steps, a timing problem, something that only happens in one particular situation |
| Medium | 100 | A real feature breaks in a normal way of using it |
| Easy | 50 | Easy to run into: it breaks on the obvious first try |
| Polish | 20 | Small things: a typo, a wrong label, something that looks off |
Two things always count as Easy:
- An install or launch failure (Iris will not install, or will not open).
- A bug that 3 or more testers reported on their own.
What earns nothing #
- Duplicates. If someone already reported it, or it is on Known issues, it earns 0. Check that page first.
- Not a bug. Iris working the way she is meant to, even if you would like it to work differently. (Ideas are still welcome. Send them to support@irisforu.com.)
What a point is worth #
At the alpha level, 1 point = Rs 1. So a Hard bug is Rs 300, and a Polish bug is Rs 20.
You can earn up to Rs 2,500 in total during the alpha.
Pending, then final #
- You send a report. We check it, usually within minutes.
- You get an email with the verdict: real bug, duplicate, not a bug, or we need more information. The same verdict shows on your My reports page.
- If it is a real bug, your points show as pending.
- When the bug is fixed and we approve the award, the points become final. Every award is checked by a person before it becomes final. Only final points can be cashed out.
If we ask for more information, answer on the My reports page. A report that is waiting for your answer earns nothing until you reply.
If you disagree with a verdict, you can appeal it from My reports. The owner looks at it.
Tester levels #
Good testers move up.
| Level | How you get there | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha | Everyone starts here | 1 point = Rs 1 |
| Trusted | 2 confirmed bugs | Higher daily limits in Iris, so you can test more each day |
| Beta | 5 or more confirmed bugs, at least one Medium or Hard, and fewer than 30% of your reports rejected | A place in the beta, and a higher rate per point |
Cashing out #
- Cash-out is by UPI, once a week.
- The minimum is Rs 200 in final points.
- We ask for your UPI ID only the first time you cash out. We keep it with your payout record, not inside Iris.
How to write a report that counts #
The better the report, the faster we can confirm it.
- One bug per report. Two problems, two reports.
- What you did, step by step. "I said 'Iris, play Tum Hi Ho'. She said 'Playing'. No sound."
- What you expected to happen instead.
- When it happened. The time matters: we read your Iris logs around that moment.
- Your device and Iris version. See Updating for where to find the version.
- A screenshot or screen recording if you can. Up to 6 files per report, 100 MB in total.
- The email you use in Iris, so we can find your logs.
You can send up to 15 reports a day.
The rules #
- Report honestly. A made-up bug, or one bug split into several reports to earn more, will be rejected, and may get you removed from the program.
- Report bugs in the latest version of Iris.
- The owner's decision on points is final.
- The points budget for the alpha is limited. If it runs low, we may pause awards. We will tell you if that happens.
